Exactly. And that's why this "timeless" thing is being used all wrong. The word timeless originally meant that regardless of times passing, said thing is still great. OOT's gameplay is not great anymore. It was mind blowing then, but if it were released today, in it's original form, people would laugh. Timeless is something more akin to say, Tetris, Pac-man or SMB. Timeless games are games which when played decades later, are still just as enjoyable. Timeless is NOT something that we look back at in awe over it's revolutionary design (OOT is a great example of this). Those games aren't timeless. They're revolutionary. |
I hear ya and, in that case, TLOU is timeless as I don't see the mechanics changing much.
