In terms of funding, the game was mainly funded by pc owners. Those who lost out were in the minority that contributed for last gen. But they knew full well that they could lose that money (this is the nature of crowdfunding)

Is that it? Then why the intention of purchasing for the Wiiu were so much higher than for other devices - including PC? It doesn´t make much sense, but still.... they promised to develop it for the WiiU and they didn´t accomplished what they promised. One thing is not accomplish something for lacking of funds, another thing is having more than enough funds for what they were proposing to do and do something different that diverges from their initial promises.

I still think that was very unprofessional.
