@FishyJoe,
i am NOT comparing SALES years, i am comparing LIFE years with looking at sales.
How many times i need to post this sentence? =)
or this:
Console`s life STARTS with NOT launch in EVERY region, BUT since FIRST launch.

In 2000, the PS2 only sold for one month in Eurpoe, Two months in the US and 9 months in Japan. And it was pretty much supply contrained the whole time.

Ok.
First it`s 10 months, launch was on march 4th.
Now, you said, that PS2 launched in 2000 year and 10 months of which was PS2 LIFE.
How many months it was selling in Europe and USA WOULD MATTER, IF I WAS COMPARING SALES YEARS.
That means:
Japan PS2 2000 March to 2001 March with PS3 November 2006 to Novemeber 2007.
Same for USA(Ocotber 2000 with November 2006) and Europe(November 2000 with March 2007).
I`m NOT making such comparison, don`t you get that?

I am comparing LIFE YEARS with looking at SALES.
That means:
since launch of both consoles.
To be correct, i should compare
Total PS2 sales form March 2000 with Total PS3 sales from November 2006, like it`s done here:
http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=PS2&reg1=All&cons2=PS3&reg2=All&cons3=X360&reg3=All&weeks=110

BUT, then i couldn`t see how PS2 and PS3 were doing at same time of year.

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far
