Considering the amount of traffic they already experiance with new consoles being turned on and updated I think the amount of time they were down last year wasn't bad at all. They practically get a DDOS attack from their own hardware with new users, lol

This is a myth and if it was true, it would be a shame for their network and resource planning team. Also keep in mind that there is a distinction between download servers and online gaming servers.
