depends on your definition of the word "flop". Flop, at least to me, means a failure. Halo 5 didnt fail, considering it sold roughly 1 million in the USA week one. i would call it underperfoming, a more suiting word for it, considering the performance of past halo titles.

That's the definition i usually use. It fell short of my expectations by a decent margin (which were already a step down from the last 3 major entries), but it certainly wasn't a failure. It says a lot about how strong an IP Halo is that we can look at these numbers as disappointing at all :p

pretty much every major IP has seen a decline this gen. (at least the ones that come out regularly) Assassins Creed has dropped, CoD has dropped, Fifa has dropped (i think). Battlefield has dropped. people eventually get tired of the same thing over and over. while these franchises will continue to sell, they all saw their peak and wont be returning to it any time soon.

i also think there is a transition in the market, more games are enjoying different types of games. RPG's are becoming bigger and bigger. MOBA's are becoming a lot more popular. games like The Walking Dead and Until Dawn are starting to see a rise. there are a lot of different types of games increasing in popularity, which all combined, IMO are taking away sales from the same games we have been getitng for the past 15 years.
