First of all, that pun almost killed me.

Anyways, I'm simply not a huge fan of Shovel Knight, and while I understand why people want him so badly, I think there is a good handful of other third-party/indie characters that deserve the spot more, like Shantae, or Bomberman.

I'm personally hoping for Fiora from Xenoblade Chronicles, Elma from XCX, or Inklings from Splatoon.

I will never get the logic of Shantae > SK in worthiness. What's the qualifying factor? That it started on Nintendo? So did SK by today's standards, and Shantae has since become fully indepent of Nintendo's platforms. It sold well? There's zero evidence of that, considering there's no record of sales I can find of Shantae no matter where or how hard I look. She's more iconic? I'd argue the opposite nowadays, considering a new IP nearly matched HGH in Kickstarter backers, and considering it's taken them so long to release it (which still hasn't happened). Yeah, the backers that did back did so more with Shantae, because WF is a known developer and Shantae fans are crazy about it, compared to people throwing money at an unknown in SK. Plus, on the topic of iconic, you'd think they'd have a Shantae amiibo first if Nintendo valued the series that much - after all, I don't think Wayforward WOULDN'T have asked before/after YCG got one approved. So that doesn't hold up even remotely for me. 

 

OT: Banjo, K-Rool, or SK and I'll be satisfied. Of those Banjo is my most desired solely for the chaos he'd cause by being in. All the walls would be broken then. K-Rool because DK should get another rep sooner than later, and they had to copyright his name for some reason recently. SK for the reasons above, because simply he's the most fitting indie rep.
