Nintendo doesn't have global appeal, on emerging markets (except China) they are virtually non-existant. In most of the developing world Nintendo relies on third-party distributors which are very unreliable and change constantly and stop selling their products whenever they feel like it. On the other hand Sony and Microsoft distribute their products directly in the third-world, even if they lose money, because it's very important for their products to be known globally.
