After Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said George Lucas had seen the upcoming Star Wars film and that he had "liked it", Vulture went to Kennedy Center Honors in Washington on Sunday to ask the man himself who was to be honored for his lifetime achievements in arts and culture.

When asked if it was true that he had seen the film already, Lucas confirmed he had and went on to say what he thought of the movie:

“I think the fans are going to love it,” he said. “It’s very much the kind of movie they’ve been looking for.”

So there you have it. I know all of you respect George a lot and that some of you were on the fence of whether to watch the movie or not since it didn't have him helming the whole thing, so now you can rest assured George thinks you'll like it.

I'm definitely part of the first group, but not part of the second group. I am more inclined to see the movie with George not having his hands all over it. But what fan of Sci-fi movies can't be eternally grateful for what George brought to life back in 1977?
