From what I have seen, steve is very popular and in an exteme grade to kids, so it would boost amiibo brand awareness and  they could buy other amiibo too! Amiibo are pushing huge sales by being bought mostly by grown-ups, and some young adults, while they're not the main target, Imagine if kids could dive into this thing... Steve can be the attractant!

I'm not joking.  A Steve Amiibo is best for business for both Nintendo and MS, sharing the profits.  Since kids would buy toys regardless if which platform Minecraft is.
