Yep, still, why to not show it?

Let me try turning the question on its head...

Why show it?

What would they get out of showing it now, beyond the little teaser we've seen? It's not like anybody would be on the fence about whether to buy a Wii U, and would be convinced by a video of a game set to release about a year from now. If what they've already shown hasn't convinced you to buy a Wii U in advance, then you're going to wait for the game to release.

Showing too much of Zelda U could take attention away from their current titles. Those are the titles that Nintendo needs to put their focus on (especially Xenoblade Chronicles X).

Keeping the game out of the spotlight now is actually quite smart. They can build hype for Zelda in general using Zelda TP HD, which releases a couple of months before E3. And then, at E3, they can have a big blowout for Zelda U, and hype the hell out of it.

Think about it - a strong E3 would be Nintendo focusing on NX. An even stronger E3 would be Nintendo focusing on NX, and also showing off Zelda U properly for the first time. If NX is releasing in 2016 (I don't think it is, but for the purposes of the discussion...), then they can also show off Zelda U's NX version, which would serve well as their flagship title for launch. On the other hand, if NX is releasing in 2017 (as I'm expecting), it gives them the opportunity to hype up the Wii U in a situation where the NX would otherwise overshadow the system.

Either way, I can't see any benefit to showing off the game now.
