What about X? 3 years of footage and people was hyped. No risk at all. What about Ocarina of Time? No, there's absolutely no risk on showing "too much" when, in the beggining, they haven't show anything worth.

X was also planned for 2014. First trailer in the Direct January 2013, new trailer at E3 2013, launch in 2014. That's how it was planned.

Another reason I briefly talked about is that Nintendo rather wants to focus on games coming in the near future. Like they said at E3. Zelda is not near future.
