You're underestimating third party.  It had games.  They just weren't the ones people wanted to play. :)  Hence why PS2 has 150 million sales and the GameCube had a bit over 20 million.

 

GC had most of the third parties and a lot of the biggest classics of the generation (Metroid Prime 1&2, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 4, F-Zero GX, Mario Sunshine, Pikmin 1&2, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros Melee, MK Double Dash, etc etc etc), now everyone praises the console and is widely considered one of the very best consoles ever, yet it was mockered on its time even worse than WiiU, we all know that. And no, the main reason why Ps2 sold 150 milions is because it was the cheapest DvD on the market, even my grandmother had one, and she havent played a game on her whole life, don´t fool yourself.
