I think Nintendo, like Apple is held to higher standards and expectations. Since so many treat them as the brand that can do no wrong, they are scrutinized for everything that goes wrong. For example, many younger gamers have been socially conditioned to accept that having broken games on launch day is a norm that has to be expected. Yet, whenever one glitch, one bug is found in a Nintendo game, they might be criticized by the very same people who are willing to give EA or Ubisoft a pass. Also, we see a new Call of Duty game every year, a new Assassins Creed, and a new Madden. Yet, it's Nintendo who seems to get the most criticism for releasing something that has Mario's face on it every year even though they're hardly the same game and in most cases aren't even part of the same genre.

In many ways, this is Nintendo's fault. They are one of the few companies who brag about quality and use the word innovation more than anyone else. They are very protective of their IP's. They are a Disney-like company who's consoles can survive entirely off of their own IP's. They are different and they promote this. So many people, fans and haters alike will treat them like they're different.
