I had no trouble reaching platinum fights in Sports champions gladiator duels, that was actual 1:1 mapping. At some point you have to bring your arm back to make the next strike in SS. If you do it slightly too fast, the game picks that up as a gesture to strike the other way. Frustrating. You can see in that video how slowly he hast to move his arm back or up to prepare for a strike. It just wasn't fun, and far from actual 1:1 mapping.
It wasn't the only problem though, just aggrevated to the point of putting the game away. The fourth time fighting a boss that appeared twice before already, after a lengthy unskippable cut scence, multi phase battle, motion controls screwing up the last stage over and over. That was enough of that.
