Nintendo have a long history of efficient compression in games, maybe this was enhanced by necessity after deciding to use cartridges in the N64 era. When you consider that in those days Super Mario 64, a game that revolutionised the industry and was visually stunning for its time fit onto a 8MB cart.... wow...
Then you have a game like the new Tony Hawk Skateboarding where the first day patch was about 30GB and that game is basically broken. That's the thing with Nintendo, their games have polish and actually work and IMO their hardware is the most reliable of all of the console manufacturers. I have been playing my GameCube all this week and it doesn't miss a beat but how many people had to replace their PS2's because they stopped working?
