Todays economy is so global that everyone would lose in a war, whether it be a cold one or hot one. This is merely some international and geopolitical tension. The conflict in Syria is split in two. Rebels vs Assad, and ISIS vs everyone (and of course the line between rebels and ISIS troops isn't clear cut), but I view that in a different light from the overall poltical tension, though it certainly doesn't help.
