Dude, the DS sold 150 million units. Obviously it sold units close to the 3DS launch. The Wii only sold 11 million units to date. If it sells good during chrismas, than it's clearly an indicator that it's too early for new hardware.
And Nintendo knows that. And Nintendo won't launch a new home console in 2016.
