I think there are two ways to come up with new controller interfaces. the N64 controller was made for mario64 Wiimote was made for Wii sports but the Wii U game pad was made for what Nintendo land? which makes me believe there wasn't a game idea that inspired the Wii U gamepad, but rather Nintendo made it in order to be different.
