Xbox&PS fans: would you mind if MS&Sony release a new console in 2017?

So, was something gained by not asking Xbox and PS fans directly if they minded their console getting a successor if their console was in the same situation as Wii U and how things are looking for the NX? I mean, that was a terribly indirect way to ask that, I think.
