trust me, for a struggling console like the Wii U advertising games is essential, just look at Splatoon, of course part of the popularity is due to the innovative gameplay but let's be fair, the game got the same treatment that MK8 recived. In this case ads are even MORE important because this is the BIGGEST (and only lmao) Nintendo title for the hollidays, if they didn't advertised it then it would have been equivalent to saying "hey, MS, Sony, we'll let to you two the market for the most important part of the year, ok ?"
plus what Xenoblade excels in is building hype and this trailers with some added CG are going to make a LOOOOOOOT of people interested in the game and more importantly in the console.
