In fairness, they do tend to keep many games bottled up until a few months before launch, and Iwata dying DID send them into radio silence for most of the year. It's not out of the realm of possibility that with the company scrambling to get back on their feet from that, some games got pushed off. I mean that happened to Star Fox after all.

Not that I'm saying this is the case, but there's definitely some fair reasoning to be made. I've been of the belief since launch that they'd have knew big cycle of development and be done with it, simply because they struggled to catch up to bloated HD development until the past year or so and because the Wii U was always gonna be a five year plug.
