Are you like completely turning a blind eye to the Wii U? That thing is in a far worse situation in both sales and software output. The reasons you're using to say the 3DS will be replaced first apply the Wii U tenfold.

Face it: Wii U sales are constant. And it still gets game that make people wanting that system.

The 3DS doesn't get games that make you want the system. If you were interested you have already bought it long ago.

Plus: 3DS sales are falling and falling. Maybe it doesn't seem for you right now that it needs a successor but in 2016 you will see that much clearer. And Nintendo knows that. That's why they are going to replace it first.
