But on the other hand, fans here, as a collective, could have also raised their voice of concerns, and maybe could have rallied at least an awareness. Instead, all I saw was "you're doing great Nintendo......keep up the good work". That sort of sentiment doesn't do any good if it's a lie.
Now the Wii U is dead.....And I'm sure Nintendo is considering not making traditional Home consoles anymore. It's kinda like lying to someone who has bad breath, and allowing them to go out on a date with it. What kind of friend is that? |
First off, I'd have to question how much influence youtubers have over Nintendo. If Nintendo is trusting youtubers with their business decisions then they are in a whole mess of trouble. And it isn't even like Shokio is mega popular. He has something like thirty k subscribers, and gets 10k hits for most videos. Nothing against him, but pretending he represents a significant portion of the Nintendo fanbase or has real influence over Nintendo's system design is farfetched.
Secondly, I was writing articles about gaming at the time. I wrote that I thought the Wii U would do great. Not because I was lying, but because I legitimately thought so. Obviously I was wrong, but I still bear no responsibility for the Wii U's failure. Because, I am not Nintendo's friend, nor am I a business consultant. My only responsibility as a writer was to put thought in my articles and to give the truth so far as I saw it. So, to blame any member in the media for Nintendo's failure, especially those with limited influence, is pretty ludicrous.
Edit: ANd if Nintendo was really listening, WindWaker would've had realistic graphics, Federation Hunters would be cancelled, and the DS and Wii would likely have never happened.
