I only said that to make you realize that your argument isn't good. You want to use sales to show that people did not want certain games, but it's not that simple. Because of that, you now use hype as the measurement to judge Skyward Sword. |
I'm not denying Skyward Sword flopped. But I can't say people was not excited for SS. And the content in the E3 was not exciting, which is the point of this thread, isn't? To point how when we have a game we like to hype, overshadow our jugdment and see "great" things where there aren't. Like this direct and the Zelda games, that just like Skyward Sword, get all the hype, and because of that we believe they have a great presentation.
Of course sales has also prove that SS was the wrong type of Zelda game the majority wanted, something that was not decided before the release, but after, when the mentioned fanbase played and didn't like it. Now, to compare with SS we have Other M, a game that people also wanted to play, until reviews start to come and once again, fanbase decided that it wasn't the type of game they wanted for next Metroid, like Federation Force, but this time the first footage was enough to judge it.
But you are right, in this case I can't mention sales without factoring other things, like hype.
By the way, Skyward Sword is the fastest selling Zelda game ever. For sure it was hyped that game:
