Halo has also declined, no doubt about it. Unless it bucks the trend we are looking at 5M sales maximum. This leaves MS in a situation. Do they reduce the budget for the next game to allow for the lower projected sales and risk further decline or spend big to try and get it back to what it was and chance losing millions. Sony are in the same situation with GT.

Do you think Halo 5 will lose them millions? I've no idea how much it costs to develop a game like this, but I've heard it didin't have that much marketing, so I'd say Halo 5 is still making them healthy profits. It's not like sales are horrible, just disappointing for Halo, but holidays are yet to come.

Even if Halo has declined, there's still demand for it and I think they have a chance to hit it big time with grande finale. Competition was rough this year, no split-screen, Master Chief not being a main character etc. there's plenty they can improve.

Halo 5 will not lose them millions but MS will expect a certain amount of profit. The more they spend, the more profit they will want it return. Halo 5's budget for developing and marketing will be the biggest of all their games and MS will want a decent return.

The losing millions part is referring to their next Halo. For arguments sake let's say Halo 5 sells 5M ltd. Do they reduce the resources and development budget execting Halo 6 to sell around 5M and risk further decline for the series or allow a development and marketing budget to try and boost the series back up to 10M + ltd (bare in mind trying to increase sales to a 10M will cost a lot more than trying to maintain a seris at 10M). Of course they could spend all that money and it only sells 5M again so risking losing money or making very little and the return not representing the investment.
