| Fuzzmosis said: Lord was a text based game hosted on BBS (Bulletin Board Systems) Where you made a charecter, male or female, and largely by chance, went in a forest, fought, gained experience and gold, leveled up by beating a master, bought new weapons and Armour, with the goal of eventually beating the Red Dragon. There were classes with special abilities as well. Mods were made, other areas to visit, new enemies, new weapons etc, but basically you logged in every day, posted messages, went to the forest, hit A about 15 times a fight, then went back to town, flirted with some random people for charm, and went about your normal day till tommorow. This is all text. |
LOL, L.O.R.D. - ... its been a LONG time.
I used to dial up, and play on a couple of BBS's every night. The other one I played was a little RPG called "Arrowbridge" (I'll be impressed if anyone here knows of it) - on Arrow BBS, run in Australia (the guy who ran the BBS also wrote the game).
My highlight with LORD, was working out withg my mate how to kill the dragon TWICE in ONE night. Killed it, restarted the game (level 1), worked my way up back up to level 10(?) - then killed it again - in the same night.
However, we managed to uncover a REALLY annoying bug - a flag gets set that says you killed the dragon during the night - and doesn't get reset properly, so it was impossible to fight the dragon again (on the same day).
(If there is anyone who doesn't believe this, I assure you it was more than possible - by using a friends account as well, and killing him to get good items off him. It remains the highlight of my BBS days... :>).
