My apologies then. It was the overuse of exclamation marks that threw me a bit. As I was saying the 82m number and CESA's number aren't reported by Sony in their financial data so we can only take them as they are, which are non official estimates. I'm not saying they're not close to the actual number, just that we don't know the actual number. In regards to VGC they are again just estimating based on this data. If you've read my posts on this forum in the past then you know that I'm not a fan of how VGC post their data with such authority yet their numbers are usually unreliable and in a lot of cases they are just plain wrong. So I'm not too bothered about what VGC say as they don't actually produce trustworthy data.

Yeah, you have been very judicial with vgc...
Numbers here being unreliable is expected, since they're plain estimates but they're not terrible, there are fairly many perfect/close to the actuall tracking cases, that you might be ignoring... :P
For instance when ps4 reached 1m in the UK, vgc had it too at 1m and when it reached 2m in the UK, vgc was off about 50k-70k? That's not bad in my opinion...
Of course there are big errors, like the one that this thread is related to (which is due to a misapprehension, which led in a misguided huge upwards adjustment, otherwise the mistake wouldn't be so big), but they're not in majority and they get fixed sometime! :P
