Mario 3D World certainly isn't ambitious or "Epic" like Mario Galaxy but its still great 3D Mario game and of the best games this gen.

Splatoon is very ambitious title despite lacs some online options, it's completely fresh and great new big IP for Nintendo and I can see that will outsell Smash Bros on NX. I really don't see why every Nintendo game needs to have 4 player local multiplayer, especially when game is totally online focused in comparison with Mario Kart or Smash Bros.

And so we go back to the original discussion of this thread and that is Nintendo has decreased their output in epic scale games in the Wii U compared to every home console before it. Which is fine because we can all agree 3D World and Splatoon are fun and addicitve to play. However, for consumers who expected Nintendo to continue making epic scale games, this generation isn't as fullfilling as previous generations.

Well depends, we can say that Mario Galaxy is "Epic" game, but for previous Mario game (Mario Sunshine) we cant say that is "Epic". Also we have or will have Epic games for Wii U, Mario Kart 8 is Epic and certainly more Epic than Mario Kart Wii, Xenoblade X too, Zelda U will certainly be Epic game, for me Splatoon is also pretty Epic. So we cant say "Nintendo has decreased their output in epic scale games in the Wii U" only beacuse Mario Galaxy was "Epic".

Splatoon is not an epic game. Mario Kart 8 sure. Xenoblade X yes. But not splatoon. It doesn't even have proper matchmaking and restricts you to game modes. Compare this to Team Fortress 2 and you can see why these restrictions put people off.

And Zelda U is probably not going to be an exclusive Wii U title anyway. So the Wii has Metroid Prime 3, Skyward Sword, and 2 Super Mario Galaxy games as exclusive epic single player games while Wii U has none from each series.

Splatoon has flaws, but again I think it's pretty Epic.

Zelda U is game from this generation (not next generation, this one!), it's in development for Wii U from 2012. or even before, but if game isn't exclusive for Wii U we will not count it!? Sorry but that's pretty stupid, especially because point of OP is where is Nintendo with Epic games and that Nintendo decreased Epic games for Wii U.

So we can all agree that we will have at least 3 Epic games on Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Xenoblade X and Zelda U. I dont think Metroid Prime 3 was so Epic, also same could say for Skyward Sword and Mario Galaxy 2, only games that were true epic games on Wii are Mario Galaxy and Xenoblade.
