I am sorry, but I think it's about time that VGC gives up on trying to guess numbers....software at least.

Because it's becoming ridiculous. Today's casualty: NBA 2K16.
VGC is giving us a figure barely touching 1 million, 2K has made an announcement weeks ago about selling 4 million. (shipping, to be exact)

http://m.ign.com/articles/2015/10/02/nba-2k16-sales-figures-revealed

No matter who has the authority to publish these numbers, it is obvious that a 300% error is pitiful. And no, they certainly don't have a 3:1 digital/retail split, when every other game is 1:5 at best. Unless you really think that they only sold a small fraction of the shipment.

Concentrate on the forums, guys. Numbers that are a month too late and this much off target are just laughable, no wonder this website is ridiculed in other places.

NPD says NBA 2K16 sold a bit more than 1.1 million physically, sooooooo..... I mean, I know that these numbers are global, but do you honestly believe it sold a lot outside of the US?

Sure, it looks a bit undertracked, because US numbers aren't actually at 1.1 million, but the game hardly sold something like 3 million first week or whatever. It probably sold like 1.5 million physically.

Actually, I think this game sells well in Europe and Latin America, NBA is the second most popular sport in most places after football.

And, sure, I can concede that they overshipped by 100% (I doubt it, but you guys seem sure about it), it still doesn't excuse the pitiful state of these chartz. I mean, they even have concrete NPD numbers (thanks Boutros and others, I didn't know them before) and still make a 50% error at best. After being late over a month.
