Ah, I love how this thread has descended into the age old argument of "Do all jRPGs have to be made in Japan?"

jRPG and wRPG are both genres. Back in the late 80s/early 90s there was only RPGs but they divided based on cultural and development backgrounds. jRPGs focussed on telling stories whilst wRPGs focussed on player customisation and player-led storytelling.

The concept that they only represent geographical origin is a simplistic view that tells you virtually nothing about the games in question. No other genre is is defined by geographical origin so it seems absurd to use the jRPG/wRPG as such. We don't do this with any other genre/label so why would it apply to RPGs?
