Not that I disagree with your point, but was Halo 5 marketed as part of a trilogy? The fact that it has a subtitle might have been a hint towards that at least. As for TLOU, it didn't end in what I would call a cliffhanger. (Not sure if you were implying that though, or only giving it as an example of a game that's supposed to be part of a series.) You can see that there will probably be more to come, but even if there wasn't, the game could have ended just like it did, and it would be a satisfying story overall. A cliffhanger is a bit different than having an ambigous element in the ending.

I feel like this being a trilogy was discussed around the launch of 4. I think a lot of people coming into Halo 5 were aware of this.

I guess the line of cliffhanger gets a little hazy with something like TLoU. But I'm gonna assume the sequel will pick up after that. It was designed to be a series.
