I'm copy pasting this from my just recent comment on Kotaku because I feel that this is relevant.

"Why are people upset exactly? I for one am not surprised and this is a little more than I expected.

Nintendo has said time, and time again that their mobile target market differs from their “gaming” market. It’s an expansion and they said that we would be surprised by their first announcement. I can sure say that I’m surprised lmao. Both this and Pokémon Go sound like social based games. Nintendo doesn’t need to flood the phone market with shitty half-assed games. We have enough of those and Nintendo needs to focus on their new platform as far as gaming goes. The mobile market is exploring other avenues.

I got to say, there are a few interactive and engaging social networking mobile sites. Most which are limited or are straight up terrible. If this is done right.... well.... Nintendo has a hit on their hands. Hopefully this is kept simple and engaging like “Habbo Hotel”. I remember playing that 8-10 years ago. It would be a great template for Nintendo."
