People say the first couple of seasons were so slow but that is what put asses in seats. You want a faced paced zombie thriller (which, sadly is what TWD seems to be, now), then go watch Z Nation of something.
TWD, as stated above, was about a small group trying to survive basically the apocalypse. The zombies were eventually shown in the comics to not even be the real threat. It's people with no rules to follow that are far more dangerous.
When everybody was looking for Sophia, people cared. When they finally found her, people cried. When Dale was trying to keep everyone moral, people cared. Now, is just guns and gore. Good fun, sure. It will get old. Remember when AMC advertised "Story comes first"? What is the story, now?
Go back to the comics.
Glenn and Maggie.
Rick and Carl Poppa (cool people know)
Michonne and Morgan.
And then, when Negan finally appears, there will be a huge payoff. Right now, we have had Woodbury, The Hunters, that hospital, and now, The Wolves. It's too much! And nobody gets time to develop as a character.
I guess I'm becoming one of those " the book is better " people--but when the series consistently misses these amazing moments set up in the comics, it gets frustrating. In this case, the series shines brightest when it is true to the source material.
