Maybe I'm wrong, but every Nintendo home console from the NES up to the NX (possibly) has featured a market chip with customizations. I wonder how much it costs them to work with the semiconductor companies. In the end, the total price of the chip would most likely be the regular price plus the custom work done; it could possibly be cheaper for them to fabricate their own chips.
