It's not a demo. 

It seems that way to me. You're trying out something to get a feel of the game, and to see if you will like it or not. Isn't that what a demo is?


Demos often feature a non-final version of the game and therefore may play differently to the completed product. In this case you get to try the final version of the game so I can understand why some would like to call it something else.

There are many demos out there that have you play the first few levels of a complete finished game. Bravely default also lets you carry over any progress from the demo to the main game should you choose to buy it. Nintendo didn't create something by giving something a new name
