Umm why havent people considered the cost of devloping new hardware.
Nintendo is in the best posituion to release a new console due to the low cost of devloping the Wii ... however the Wii is the market leader ... therefore Nintendo will let it live out its lifespan ...
SONY want PS3 to last 10 years becuase it cost them BILLIONS to create and sell .... they won't release a PS4 untill they have to ...
Microsoft -- their only just generating a profit ... do you think their prepared to send 360 back into the red by spending a billion or so $$ on R&D for a next-box ?? Microsoft is quite happy with the 360 at the moment and im sure they wil attempt to reach the market first once they know their competitors are going to release new consoles ( eg. reliable info that SONY / Nintendo are going to annouce new consoles )
