The reason why is because Nintendo would have to fund the majority of it. If you don't have one person reaping the benefits. They won't give you a lot of money. Nintendo would have to basically open up a production company for TV. Or go to a major one.
Now the bigger problem is. What type of shows would they aim for. Kids, teens, adult focused? Will Nintendo want to make a TV-14 Metroid. Or just make Mario CGI shows.
