Well, there's no doubt it'd get exposure.  It'd depend on making something compelling though.  They've got plenty of IP.  A Metroid series could be great.  Link has endless possibilities.  Star Fox as well.  I think they're actually better IP to work off of than Mario, story wise/character-wise etc...
