I can already see Nintendo doing it. They will excuse the move saying the original vision was only possible on the NX. Not that it matters, people will eat and still buy the game.
At least my prediction will be good: No new Zelda game for Wii U, rather a TP HD remake.

If they were to delay that and release only on NX, I fear the damage that might do to Nintendo. Many say we will just gobble the game up on the NX and forgive the whole situation. but just look back at E3 2015. That reaction to the lack of Wii U anything really. I think that is a sign that Nintendo fans are not satisfied with the Wii U and Nintendo and taking away one of the huge titles we expect for it could be devastating for fans trust with Nintendo. Don't forget, most of the Wii U console base is probably Nintendo loyal base. Who should be the ones first in line for the NX. You want to please this crowd as best as possible. This is why I think Nintendo knows they can't cut the Wii U version of Zelda and they won't. Onto this Zelda. This game needs a lot of work. I mean.... A LOT OF WORK. They need to probably completely re-due a lot of character models and environments to get the up to par with graphics that are today's standards. Not to mention they could due a lot of changes to the over all game to make it better. like the slow beginning. It will be amazing if they are able to pull off the E3 demo they showed so long ago. But I don't expect. But I think this is basically already confirmed with the evidence at hand and hopefully our next direct is Friday and they show this off. |
I think they will still release on Wii U but won't surprise me if it becomes NX exclusive. Maybe this is the thing that we need for Nintendo fanbase to open their eyes. How knows. In any case, now my expectations for the new game has gone up and it needs to be the ultimate Zelda experience scoring above Ocarina of Time.

Nintendo announced Zelda U for Wii U in January of 2013, they talked about game few years, they showed us game twice, we got one deley, Miyamoto said around E3 that still coming on Wii U, and now you expecting that will be NX exclusive despite all that!?
Nintendo would never let Zelda U to be NX exclusive, they would literally piss on their biggest fans, supporters and lowest customers, that would come back to them like boomerang.
People who expecting that Zelda U will be NX exclusive doesn't really knows anything about Nintendo.
