Well, his gripe is that you shouldn't HAVE to do that, so the fact that you can get the saves is irrelevant to his purpose. And for my part, I didn't like the extended single player, I found it incredibly tedious. Fan service, for the most part.

I agree with that. Unlockable stuff for multiplayer modes just shouldn't exist. That's what pissed me off about the one Mario Party I owned. Like you had to beat the computer in every stage before it was unlocked in multiplayer... i mean WTF is that? 80% of the game is luck!  (outside of destroying the computer in nearly every minigame yet still losing.)
