With regard to profits it's mainly of importance to the publisher unless the developers are paid on the basis of how many copies were sold to retailers. Developers may also only be paid by the hour. Developing companies may decide on another publisher for their next game, if doing business didn't go as well as they expected. |
Publishers have almost all the power, not Developers; you make it sound as if developers get to pick and choose who gives them enough money to produce their game.
