I liked the movie but I was really disappointed by the way they disrespected their own lore so easily as Tarantino explained. Also the ending (the pool scene) made no sense lol. But the style of the movie and the concept as well as the soundtrack were great.

Yes, it has some serious flaws, but it feels pretty unique and the experience is strong. And is one of those films that understand what the fear of the unkown is about.

Did you see Babadook? that feels pretty unique too

Although to be honest most of my favourite terror movies of the last years are not specially scary, movies like The Cabin In Woods, VHS 2, The Conjuring, You are next, etc are pretty good (imo) without being very scary or even nothing at all.
