Oddly, one of the oft heard complaints about the 8th gen consoles (the PS4 and XBO) was that there were a lot of games during the release debut and subsequent year that were cross generational games, lessening the perceived value in being an early adopter to some.

It actually made it a lot easier for me to transition because more cross generational games meant fewer PS3 games purchased to the point where I no longer keep a PS3 hooked up. It's still good for legacy gaming, but there's enough on the PS4 that I don't even split my gaming time on any other platform (no PC, no portable, no mobile, etc.)
