Congratulations, I would rather pay for Super Meat Boy than to pay for playing my games online though, but to each one their own.

You know, your jab there is kind of a double edged sword since it also acknowledges that the Wii U userbase is so small that there's no point to charging people to sustain services.

3DS is not charging for online either.

Neither did the PSP. Neither does the Vita despite Sony's lofty expectations at launch and focus on anytime, anywhere online functionality (though that came with a non-Sony related payment if you wanted 3G). Regardless, handhelds aren't part of the discussion. It's like apples and oranges in how they've been handled.

PS3 didn't have paid online, so why would PSP?

You just said yourself that the Wii U userbase is too small for paid online, same goes for Vita.
