I believe they said something about the game being more "Persona" than "SMT", but I can't find Persona or even Fire Emblem in it....

(And I'm a huge fan of both Fire Emblem and Persona, so I'm part of the 2 pissed off fanbases, yeah! ^^)

I would say the problem is the really hardcore are just a touch to close.  Can't see the forest for the trees.  I see the FE and Persona (Persona IS a SMT franchise, btw) elements, as far as the game structure goes and even some other elements.  It's just dressed up differently.  And that's probably why they renamed it to Genei Ibun Roku #FE, to set it apart as an associated franchise but not a part of either IP, standing alone with its own identity.

Thanks, I know that Persona is a SMT franchise, but with its own gameplay, hence the distinction when I talk about the game being more SMT or more Persona. When I read some explanations about the gameplay, yeah, I can see that they're mimicking the Persona kind of gameplay (like Tokyo Xanadu or other games now). But still nothing about FE, except that the "Personas" will be FE (bad) characters, and minor stuff like combined attacks. Really not enough IMO. Where is the "tactical" part?

And seriously, we could even try to compare Genei FE and Persona 5 trailers, they're worlds apart. And "worlds" is a weak word. Genei FE looks like a Persona's parody for weeaboos with some cute characters from FE tossed in it. Nothing more.

I still hope I'm wrong and the game will be worth it, but the more we know about it, the more I lose that hope.

Well I've watched the battle gameplay videos and there are FE elements.  There's a variation of the weapon strengths and weaknesses, for one.  There's also the pairing attacks based on affinity and such, similar to how the affinity in Awakening effected how well characters would do together.  But yeah, the gameplay is much more in line with Persona.

But yes, visual tone is much different from Persona 5.  But when you compare Persona 5 to 4, there's a significant difference there too.  Persona 5 has a very dark, edgy visual tone, far more so than Personal 4 or the Devil Survivor (?) Games.  I've found it an interesting development watching these two games, because visually it seems like they literally split the dark and the color of Persona4's presentation and stuck all of the latter in Genei Ibunroku #FE and stuck all the former in Persona 5 :P.  Even the music and such is quite different from P4, at least in the trailers, and again the two games go to different extremes.  Even the character design themes are extremes.  Where as P4's cast looked like slightly quirky average people, P5 takes it all the way to hipster vigilantes  in terms of aesthetic while this game goes full on everyman (er, everyteen).  I think they may have intentionally done this so the two games weren't redundant

But as for the rest of your bashing, yeah that's your opinion.  Rather than pretending your taste is the be all and insulting anyone who disagrees, why not just accept that some things aren't for you?  Not everyone's going to like the same things, no need to call people who like what you don't names.
