Nice attempt at damage control, you posted on section of 3DW's and SMB's map then posted the whole of SMW's map, 3DW's mapp is one giant map that is all connected like SMW and unlike SMB3, mean while you won't find maps like this in SMB3
All they share with SMB3 is that they have themes where as the layout design is more like SMW even ones like the Ice World share a layout design approach similar to the final area of SMW.
Nope 2D elements aren't the main feature of 3DW they're a new addition to the 3D formula to form a new approach, the are many levels where the 2D elements aren't even focused on, that's because as mentioned 3DW is a mix of all the games. The were some select levels in the Galaxy series that allowed you to explore while the majority were linear this is just like 3DW so the stance is hypocritical.
