Okay, it is motion controlled by how you move the controller, but all controllers have gyroscopes. The PS3 could do it.

But I'm positive N64/GameCube didn't have a gyroscopes, so since they were introduced Nintendo used them as a Gimmik as well as other features like pointing to the screen and tapping on the gamepad...
