While I agree that both are consoles, I think they are sperated for more than just  "fanboy" reasons as you stated. And then went as far as to say the "ou know, those who can´t accept that the 3ds is the console with highest total sales this generation, even being a portable console, just because its manufacturer is not their favorite brand." even though NO ONE is denying that nor not accepting it. It is quite well known that the 3DS is the console with the highest sales this generation.

People just acknowledge that the PS4 has the highest HOME console sales this generation. While the 3DS has the highest HANDHELD console sales this generation. Heck I coul deven be like you and say there are people who can't accept that the PS4 is number 1 right now so because their home console maker of choice isn't winning they have to switch it up.

But why do that? When it is silly and pointless, all of the companies even seperate the home console and handheld console sales. Even though they are all made to bring them profit they still seperate them. They don't just have "console" sales and that is it. They are different products even in the eys of the creators hence the reason they seperate them...

I think what he is getting at is that the separation is becoming arbitrary. Like I said, we're getting to the point where handhelds are getting the same games as consoles. Like literal ports. It's becoming silly to talk about game sales and segregate the handheld and console sales as if they aren't part of the same market. They are. Everyone knows that handhelds and home consoles have a difference. That's not even up for debate, but when someone talks about someone being the "uncontested kind of console sales," and then tries to specify that they only meant home console sales as if the two types of products don't clearly bleed into each other, it becomes silly.

They maybe different physically, but at a market and company level, they are exactly the same. It's silly to say "Sony are killing it this generation" or "Nintendo are killing it generation" when half of both of their gaming divisions are some of the biggest financial failures in the gaming industry. "Oh, but that's just their handheld/yeah, but the 3DS is killing it" doesn't cut it for either company. The only people really deviding these as more than merely varied portability of the same type of product are fans. Nintendo's literally creating an entire platform around squashing this.

Very sensible respone and I agree and disagree. Market and company level they are still the same yet different. I view it the same as say Nissian. The Altima and the Armada are both vechicles but they are looked at differently and I can't think of a good word so I will say "advertised" differently.  They both serve the same purpose getting you from one point to another but are marketed differently. I kind of view it the same way with teh console market and even the everyday consumer sees them differently.

But yes NIN is trying to erase that line and they are getting very close to doing it.
