I'd say it started losing visibility with the 8th gen. I think it was generally fine with the Wii/DS, but afterwards the marketing just fell apart. Unifiying everything under a simple "Nintendo" umbrella is genius. I know plenty of people that simply refer to my Wii U or 3DS as my "Nintendo." Nintendo is synonymous with gaming, so it just makes sense to capitalize on their most iconic brand.

I think just about logo and brand itself, not whole marketing (and yes this gen marketing was very bad), before Wii/DS Nintendo logo was stronger and more visible, especially in NES, SNES and N64 era.
