It has by far the best gameplay in the series, but sadly does go to waste to a certain extent. I suppose I'd say it's the best actual game Kojima has made, but MGS3 remains easily the best Metal Gear he's made.

It's a shame, because I do think if this whole Konami mess hadn't gone down, and he'd had maybe an extra year then this would have been a true masterpiece.

Maybe Kojima listened and took the lengthy cutscenes criticism at heart and that was the end product. I also believe MGS3 is the best of the franchise. It had this perfect balance between story and gameplay.

Waiting an extra year for the game to be completed would've made it better. Hell, I believe fans wouldn't mind waiting for it until March 2016.

Ya I'm quite certain he did purposely go in the extreme opposite of MGS4 which was a cutscene overload. I mean if he's gonna operate under extremes, I prefer it on the gameplay side, but yes MGS3 had quite a beautiful balance for my tastes, and it's a shame he couldn't (or wouldn't) get back to that.
